| The impairment of social functioning in depression is a distinct aspect from depressive symptoms; both depressive symptoms and social functioning should be considered in treatment for depression. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of behavioral activation (BA) on social functioning. A nonclinicalsample (＝459) of undergraduate students completed self-report measures of Beck DepressionInventory, Behavioral Activation for Depression Scale, and Social Adaptation Self-evaluation Scale. Structural equation modeling indicated that activation(including routine regulation), avoidance of social interactions and activities, and reward affected social functioning impairments in depression. This result suggested that BA would be an effective therapy for social functioning. | ||||||
