内容記述 | This paper gives results of a correlation analysis between selected items from the authors' 3rd questionnaire survey of Japanese college English teachers. In the general results, there was an indication of a chain of correlations between items on high school, college, and graduate school types (public/private) and type of institution the respondents are employed at. An inverted age factor was found for respondents holding English ability certification. In high school, instruction by native English teachers correlated with English listening and speaking fluency items. In college, both the frequency per week English classes were taken and the number of different English instruction types studied under influenced satisfaction towards English classes. Instruction by native English teachers correlated with preparation attitudes for those respondents going overseas for study or research. Theoretical or applied specialization in English tended to influence at a moderate level which respondents attended foreign or Japanese graduate schools. Finally, numerous moderate to strong correlations were discovered among the four English abilities (listening, speaking, reading and writing) at different educational stages and between other items in the analysis. | |||||
