| 内容記述 | To recapitulate the arguments given in the previous two sections, the examination of i-U in various languages and the composite nature of palatalization uncoverd by Bhat both constitute confirming evidence for our view : namely OE i-U is a complex phenomenon comprising raising and fronting, ^<11> and therefore both should be accorded an independent status in the formalization, rather than to be amalgamated into i-assimilation. Hence the advantage of our formulation (8). | |||||
