内容記述 | The purpose of the present study is to clarify the development of Play and Games which had been practiced in the school physical education from the submission of 'the Report of Gymnastics and Play' in 1905 to the end of World War II. The survey by questionnair method was adopted for the present study and the subjects, mostly living in Tokai District, had attended the physical education classes during the above-mentioned period. The results of the analysis on the data from 138 respondents are as follows : 1) The exercises mainly used as the teaching materials in physical education during the Meiji era were Futsu-taiso (a system of educational gymnastics organized by G. A. Leland) and Yugi (Play and Games), while they had changed to apparatus gymnastics and ball games in the Taisho era. However, Play and Games had been successively used in the same period. 2) Competitive' play and games had often been taken for the activities of athletic meeting in many schools. They included much more kinds of materials than those illustrated in the Syllabuses and the manuals for teaching Play and Games. 3) Singing play had also come into wide use with the transit of time from Taisho to Showa. And it shoud be noted that the illustrated materials in the Syllabuses and the manuals had been adopted at many schools. In addition to these results, it may be said that the Play and Games which had been used widely and for a long time were generally composed of the movements including walking step and running step accompanied with the simple action as well as being attached and easy to be acquired. As to the music used for the Play and Games, the rhythm was two-quarter measure with which the movements were easy to be kept good time, and then the words were plain and attractive to children. | |||||
